It was in Tumbira, a riverside community along the banks of the Rio Negro (Amazonas), that Fernanda Marques and Marcelo Rosenbaum collaborated with artisan Manoel Garrido to create turned wooden vases crafted from sustainably sourced wood.
“The reflection of the boats on the Rio Negro inspires us and invites reflection on human existence and permanence in the forest,” says Marcelo Rosenbaum.

The color of the wood that gives these vessels their form is the true star of the Tumbira collection. Inspired by its originality and uniqueness, I dared to create a design that pays tribute both to the Indigenous world and to the urban context I am part of. Two sides of the same vast Brazil, which I feel we are only just beginning to explore, says Fernanda Marques.
