Imagine the lightness of a leaf that has just fallen from the branch of a majestic Amazonian tree, now resting peacefully, amidst the silence of the forest, on two softly rounded rocks. Now, imagine a chaise. A solid and elegant piece of furniture, ready to take a prominent place in the design of a living room, entrance hall, or even a bedroom. “The idea of turning the furniture into a vehicle capable of communicating the urgent need to preserve our forests was the starting point of this project,” says architect and designer Fernanda Marques, who, in partnership with Breton, signs the Fly. The chaise was initially created to be part of the brand’s iconic window display, which marks the opening of its newest showroom in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in October. With a structure composed of two wooden “rocks” forming the base, and a seat defined by a cushioned “blade,” Fly, when brought into a residential setting, aims above all to convey a sense of lightness. “Without losing sight, of course, of sustainability. In this case, using natural fabrics and reforested wood, which can be freely selected by each client,” Fernanda emphasizes.
